Hello!

I’m Francesca. I first started to play golf in October 2021. Although I only started playing golf last year, I have always been around golf. My Dad is a PGA professional and growing up my parents owned a Driving Range and Par 3 course, meaning all my summer holidays were spent there (albeit in the café, never too far away from the chocolate). I had no interest in golf when I was younger, I just liked to collect the baskets from the range, put the tees out for sale and serve the odd customer with the help of my Mum.

However, six years ago my parents moved to Spain, and now they own a golf shop there. I have helped in the shop over the years and started to learn more about golf and the equipment needed. The more I learnt and the more time I spent in the shop, I started to think about giving golf a go. So, I asked my Dad to take me to the driving range and give me a lesson, and I have been playing ever since. 

The idea for ‘Women Can Golf’ came to me when I was at the driving range. I was watching a couple and the man was trying to teach the lady how to hit the ball. You could see she was getting frustrated as the man wasn't very clearly explaining to her what she had to do. Working with my Dad in the golf shop also highlighted to me how a lot of women were introduced to golf by a man in their lives, and expressed how they would like more women to play with.

That got me thinking, what if there was somewhere that women just beginning their golf journey could find helpful information about the game and the basics of golf? Or a place which could help women to begin their golf journey?

So ‘Woman Can Golf’ was born. The aim of this page is to help women, whether beginners or seasoned golfer, with their golf game, providing encouragement and support for them through the various posts on the website and social media channels.
